1. Who We Are

Glaminai ("we", "us", or "our") is an AI-powered beauty product discovery tool that helps you find makeup and skincare products matched to your skin type, tone, and budget. Our service is available at chat.glaminai.com and glaminai.com.

2. What We Collect

We collect the following types of information when you use Glaminai:

Information you provide directly:

  • Email address (when you create an account via Clerk)
  • Photos you upload for skin analysis, if you choose to upload one — see Section 3, "Photos and Face Data," below for exactly how these are handled
  • Skin type, skin tone, undertone, and beauty preferences shared in chat or selected in your profile
  • Budget preferences and product categories you ask about
  • Chat messages and conversation history

Information collected automatically:

  • Device type, browser, and operating system
  • IP address and approximate location (city/country level)
  • Pages visited and features used within Glaminai
  • Performance and error data via Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights

3. Photos and Face Data

If you choose to upload a photo of yourself for skin analysis, here is exactly what happens to it:

  • Who can upload: Only signed-in users can upload a photo. We do not allow photo uploads from anonymous, non-account visitors.
  • Where it's sent: Your photo is sent to OpenAI (GPT-4o) to perform visual analysis — for example, identifying skin tone, undertone, and visible skin concerns — and to generate personalized beauty recommendations. OpenAI is the only third-party AI service that receives your photos. No other AI, vision, or facial-recognition provider ever sees them. OpenAI does not use this data to train its models.
  • Where it's stored, and for how long: Your photo is stored temporarily in Vercel Blob storage at a randomized, unguessable URL — it is never made searchable or discoverable. It is automatically and permanently deleted within approximately 24–30 hours of upload, or immediately if you delete your account, whichever happens first.
  • What we don't create or keep: We do not create or store any biometric template or facial embedding from your photo, and we do not use facial recognition. The only things stored are (1) the photo itself, temporarily, as described above, (2) any self-reported profile values you choose to save — skin type, skin tone, undertone, and skin concerns — which you select yourself from options in your profile, and (3) if you choose to save one, your face map results, described below.
  • Deleting your photo sooner: You can delete your account at any time from within the app, which immediately deletes any photos you've uploaded along with your other account data. See Section 7, "Data Retention."

Face map (live camera)

The face map uses your camera to show where makeup like blush, highlight and contour suits your face. Here is exactly how it works:

  • It runs on your device: Face mapping happens entirely in your browser. Your camera video and the captured image are never uploaded to Glaminai or to any third party, and are never stored. The face-tracking software (Google's MediaPipe) is downloaded to your device to run there; it does not send your image anywhere.
  • What's saved, only if you choose to: If you tap "Save to my profile," we store only the resulting labels — face shape, eye shape and tilt, whether your eyes are hooded, lip shape, and your undertone if you confirm it. We never store your photo, your face measurements, or anything that could be used to recognize you.
  • Removing it: You can remove your saved face map at any time from your Skin Profile, and it is deleted if you delete your account.

4. How We Use Your Data

We use your information to:

  • Provide personalized product recommendations based on your skin profile
  • Save your product matches and chat history (for signed-in users)
  • Improve the accuracy and quality of our AI recommendations
  • Monitor and improve app performance
  • Communicate with you about your account or service updates

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

5. AI & Third-Party Services

Glaminai uses AI to power product recommendations. Your chat messages — and, if you upload one, your photo — are processed by the following third-party services:

  • OpenAI — Your chat messages are sent to OpenAI's API (GPT-4o) to generate product recommendations, and any photo you upload is sent to OpenAI to perform visual skin analysis. OpenAI is the only third-party AI service that receives your photos, and OpenAI does not use this data to train its models. See Section 3, "Photos and Face Data," above for details, and OpenAI's privacy policy for more.
  • Google (MediaPipe) and jsDelivr — Deliver the face-tracking software that the face map downloads to your browser. Like any website, they receive standard request information such as your IP address, but never your camera images.
  • Clerk — Handles user authentication. See their privacy policy.
  • Vercel — Hosts our application, provides temporary photo storage, and collects performance analytics. See their privacy policy.
  • Rakuten Advertising / Affiliate Networks — When you click "Shop Now" links, we may earn a commission. No personal data from your Glaminai chat is shared with retailers.

6. Cookies & Local Storage

Glaminai uses:

  • Cookies — for authentication and session management via Clerk
  • Local Storage — to save your chat history locally when not signed in, and to remember whether you've tried the face map
  • Analytics cookies — via Vercel Analytics (no personally identifiable information collected)

We do not use advertising cookies or sell cookie data to third parties.

7. Data Retention

  • Photos: Automatically deleted within approximately 24–30 hours of upload, or immediately upon account deletion, whichever comes first. See Section 3, "Photos and Face Data."
  • Signed-in users: Your chat history and product matches are stored until you delete your account.
  • Anonymous users: Your session data is stored only in your browser's local storage.
  • Account deletion: You can delete your account at any time from within the app, or email privacy@glaminai.com to request deletion. Deleting your account also deletes any photos you've uploaded.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Opt out of data processing for non-essential purposes
  • Data portability (receive your data in a structured format)

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@glaminai.com and we will respond within 30 days.

9. Children's Privacy

Glaminai is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Continued use of Glaminai after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
